Commission
As background, Local Treasures does not charge you to become a Treasure. Most flexible work platforms will charge a joining fee. We do charge a commission on each job you undertake. This commission is our income and is used by us to stay in business. The commission we charge pays, among other things for:
Marketing to find you new customers
Insurance so you are covered doing your Local Treasures work
Invoicing and payment automation, so we can process and collect payments on your behalf
Technology to ensure you get to the right job at the right time
Bank fees so you can be paid in a timely manner after the job has been completed.
As you can see our commission is a vital part of Local Treasures and the way we do business and support you as a Treasure.
This is the reason we have the following policy within our code of conduct.
4. Poaching policy
4.1 Do not accept direct work offers from clients or attempt to bypass Local Treasures. All bookings, amendments, or new tasks must be coordinated through the office. Any non compliance to this term can incur a lost income fee payable by the Treasure of up to £200.
4.2 If a customer who you previously performed work for as a Local Treasure asks you to return to undertake another job, this customer is a Local Treasures customer and should be put through as a Local Treasures job. Failure to notify us of this additional work will mean you and the customer are no longer insured through us and you will no longer be able to work through our platform.
4.3 If, whilst working as a Local Treasure, a customer or an acquaintance of that customer asks you to undertake work for them, this customer has been recruited whilst you are working for Local Treasures and should be viewed as a Local Treasures job.
4.4 If a customer requests a different service than the one you provide for them, you will notify Local Treasures so we will be able to provide them with a new Treasure to fulfill that work. This keeps more work in the Local Treasures system which you will benefit from.
Failure to comply with this policy means we will have to remove you from our platform and you will not receive any new work through Local Treasures.
5. Health, Safety, and Security
5.1 Work Safely: Use appropriate tools and follow health and safety protocols.
5.2 Property Care: Handle all client property with care. Avoid using harsh chemicals or materials unless approved.

6.3 Feedback: Accept constructive feedback graciously and aim for continuous improvement.
6.4 Professional Boundaries: Maintain appropriate, friendly, but professional relationships with clients.
6.5 Notification: Notify the office immediately if for any reason a criminal conviction or activity may affect the results of previously gained Criminal Reference Checks
7. Subcontracting Responsibilities
