Handyman skills: A carpenter by trade, Richard started working with wood when he built a set of shelves for him mum. Thirty years later, Richard ran his own cabinet making business specialising in kitchen cabinets and tables and chairs.

Richard can also turn his hand to cupboard building, fence and shed assembly and any handyman task which requires a carpenter.

In his spare time Richard enjoys finding new walks where he can take his dogs and growing vegetables in his garden. “I have become very good at growing peas and carrots” he says.

Richard lives in Stamore in Winchester.

Handyman Skills:  David used to work in financial services but has always done his own DIY. He can fix most things around the house and is always called on by his daughters to help put up a bed or flat pack. “I was trained by my father who was a builder, so from an early age I always had a tool box ready.”

In addition to his handymen skills, David and his wife breed labrador retrievers and used to have their own dog training business. “I will be happy to help walk a neighbours’ dog. We can train them at basic commands or look after them for the day.” David says.

David helps out with basic handyman jobs and dog walking duties for his neighbours.Best thing about Alresford: “I enjoy walking the dogs in the countryside around Alresford and I’ve always enjoyed walking the Watercress Trail.

David lives in Alresford, 8 miles out of Winchester.

Michael used to work as a painter and decorator in London before moving to Eastleigh. He moved to be near his daughter and continues to use his decorating skills with Local Treasures. Michael is perfect for doing smaller decorating jobs such as painting a room, or wallpapering one wall. “I work alone now, so prefer the smaller jobs. Luckily, I still have all my tools and ladders, so can do any job you need. My favourite jobs are outside paint jobs in the summer and I have more patience for gloss work these days.”

In addition to his decorating skills, Michael can do most handyman jobs, including basic kitchen and bathroom repair work.
